Cursor Launches Router to Pick the Right Model Per Request
Cursor Router automatically sends each request to the most capable model for the task — teams in early access saw frontier quality at 30–60% lower cost.

Cursor has launched Cursor Router, an intelligent model router for teams and enterprises. Rather than pinning one model for everything, Router sends each request to the model best suited to that task.
During early access with dozens of enterprises, customers reported frontier-quality performance at roughly 30–50% lower cost. In online A/B tests across millions of requests, Cursor measured up to 60% savings. Cursor says it routes hundreds of millions of coding requests each week.
Why it matters for builders
Model choice is one of the least understood levers in AI coding. Automatic routing removes a decision most people were guessing at anyway.
