From Idea to Launch: A No-Code Founder's Workflow

You don't need a co-founder who codes anymore — you need a clear process. Here's a workflow that holds up whether you're building a side project or testing a real business idea.

Week 1: Get specific before you build anything

Write down, in one paragraph, who this is for and the one problem it solves. If you can't do that in a paragraph, you're not ready to prompt an AI builder yet — you'll just get a beautiful app that solves the wrong problem. Talk to two or three people who have the problem, even informally. It's faster than rebuilding after launch.

Week 2: Build the thinnest possible version

Pick the single core action your app needs to do well — booking a slot, saving a recipe, tracking an expense — and build only that in Lovable, Bolt, or Replit. Skip login, skip payments, skip settings pages. You're testing whether the core idea works, not whether you can build a full product.

Week 3: Add the parts that make it real

Once the core flow feels right, layer in accounts and a database so people's data actually persists, a basic design pass so it doesn't feel like a prototype, and the two or three settings people will actually ask for. Resist adding features nobody asked for yet — that's what week 5 is for.

Week 4: Get it in front of strangers

Publish it, connect a real domain if you have one, and send it to people outside your immediate circle — your first users tell you things your friends won't. The Facebook group is a good place for this: a fresh set of eyes catches confusing screens fast.

Week 5 onward: Build what people actually use

Watch what people click, not what they say they'll use. Add the next feature based on real friction, not your original plan. This is also when payments, if you need them, tend to make sense — Stripe integrates directly into most AI builders once you're ready.

The habit that matters most

Ship something real every week, even if it's small. A no-code founder's biggest risk isn't a bad idea — it's spending three months polishing something nobody's seen yet. The tools are fast enough now that "build in private for a quarter" is almost always the wrong call.
