GitHub Copilot is now available in the AI SDK harness layer

Vercel expanded its AI SDK harness layer to officially support GitHub Copilot. If you are building software that uses AI coding agents behind the scenes, this harness serves as a universal adapter, letting you plug in different coding assistants without rebuilding your project from scratch.

According to Vercel, the harness layer lets developers "switch agents without changing your application code." Along with Copilot, the tool supports systems like Claude Code and Cursor, meaning you can test which assistant gives you the best results for your specific project and swap them out seamlessly.
